The Byron Bay Love Birds were my attempt to make something that people would love. Something likeable. Something relatively inoffensive compared to some of my other, darker pieces. Something that made people smile.
I did my first few bird paintings in the middle of the night. We were living in a small house with a porch that went all the way around, where I tied my bicycle up out of the sub-tropical storms.
I woke up in the early hours, like I sometime do and have an overwhelming urge to paint or make something.
By the time it was light, I had a few paintings done. I was tired but happy.
I fell in love. That was the beginning of my Birds...
